THREE TREE LODGE AND LITHGOW TAFE: FOUNDATION SKILLS FOR YOUR FUTURE

A pilot course at Lithgow TAFE has created a partnership with aged care provider Three Tree Lodge that is set to continue to teach “Foundation Skills for Your Future”.

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole presented the first graduates from the course with their certificates at a special ceremony at TAFE on Tuesday.

He said the Lithgow programme commenced with Cohort 1 in March this year and concluded on May 25.

“The programme is a great example of Industry/Employer focused delivery tailored to specific needs and individualised to each participant,” Mr Toole said.

“This is all about upskilling existing employees, future proofing an existing workforce and driving cultural change in the workplace.”

According to Andrew Johnson, head teacher Career Pathways and Employability Skills (Bathurst, Lithgow, Cowra and Grenfell TAFE), said the course is a success story in the making.

“The great thing is that it also helps build confidence and resilience in the workplace,” he said.

“This programme will be delivered to another 36 employees of Three Tree Lodge over the remainder of this year.”

Three Tree Lodge CEO Kate Hurrell said that over the next six months they will be implementing the recommendations made in the presentations made by the students on graduation day.

These include ‘Walkers in the Dining Room’, Clothing Protectors’, Meal Planning and Preparation’, ‘Updating Feedback Forms’ and ‘Garden Upgrade’.
