Locals and visitors across the Kandos Rylstone region will have access to more inclusive sporting facilities now that lighting upgrades have been completed at Rylstone Showground.
Rylstone Showground arena has been upgraded through the construction of four new lighting towers following removal of the existing aged and faulty lighting facility.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said this is a great addition to Rylstone Showground.
“Rylstone Showground is used by many sporting and community groups for a variety of uses. The main user of the facility is the yearly Bull-A-Rama and Rylstone Show which both events run into the evening where lighting is critical,” Mr Toole said.
“Community sport is also a vital part of our social fabric and some of the biggest barriers faced by locals are the lack of amenities and adequate lighting.
Now, with this project complete, locals have been given the ability to increase the showgrounds usage by enabling groups to use the field at night more often.
“The project has also increased the safety of and accessibility to the regional sportsground for all community members, and this will in turn drive participation in sports training, matches and events at Rylstone.”
The project was funded through the former NSW Government’s Crown Reserve Improvement Fund with a grant of $187,500 and Mid Western Regional Council also contributed financially.
