FIRST LOOK AT $200 MILLION BATHURST HOSPITAL MASTER PLAN

The Bathurst community is set to benefit from a range of new and expanded health services with the master plan for the Bathurst Hospital redevelopment unveiled today.

Deputy Premier and Member for the Bathurst Electorate Paul Toole said the NSW Liberal and Nationals Government is investing $200 million in a major redevelopment of Bathurst Hospital to expand, modernise and improve health services and facilities for Bathurst and surrounding communities.

“The Bathurst Hospital master plan highlights the vision for the redevelopment which will deliver enhanced and flexible care with new, contemporary health facilities that will support the wellbeing of patients, carers and staff now and into the future,” Mr Toole said.

“A mix of new and refurbished areas will be delivered as part of this $200 million investment, including expanded emergency department and maternity, services as well as improved paediatrics, mental health, inpatient and outpatient services. The Daffodil Cottage Cancer Care Service is also being expanded.”

In addition Deputy Premier, Minister for Regional NSW and Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said dedicated palliative care beds are planned as part of the Bathurst Hospital redevelopment.

Minister for Regional Health Bronnie Taylor said Bathurst Hospital staff, clinicians and the Western NSW Local Health District have provided valuable input to the project team which has helped inform the planning and design.

“To enhance access to the campus and provide better connections to car parking, an additional entry point is planned at Mitre Street is planned as well as improved car parking,” Mrs Taylor said.

“Retaining and maximising views, light-filled spaces as well as new outdoor green spaces are also proposed as part of the redevelopment to create a welcoming and healing environment for patients, staff and visitors.

“The master plan marks the next step in planning for this significant hospital expansion and we’re encouraging the community to provide their feedback, with a series of information sessions planned this month.”

The Bathurst community can provide their feedback on the hospital’s redevelopment master plan at a series of community information sessions which will take place in the hospital’s main foyer on:

As part of today’s visit Mr Toole officially opened a new $4.92 million state-of-the-art MRI facility at Bathurst Health Service, which will allow for faster diagnosis and treatment of patients in the local area.

“This new MRI service is well located to other medical imaging and clinical services the community can already access at the hospital,” Mrs Taylor said.

“This brand new MRI service is a welcome addition for Bathurst and the surrounding communities and will improve access and health outcomes for the region.”

Construction of the $200 million redevelopment is expected to be completed in 2027. Work to build the vastly expanded health facility in Bathurst will be carried out in stages to ensure clinical services remain operational during construction.

The Bathurst Hospital redevelopment is part of the NSW Government’s record $11.9 billion investment in health infrastructure over four years to 2025-26.
